Hello from the Chef de Gare,

Just as a reminder, Joint Carolinas will be held here January 21st-23rd ,2011. Our next committee meeting will be on 14 November at 1:00 pm at the post. All Chairpersons PLEASE mark your calendars to attend so that final preparations can be made.

First of all, from the all the voyageurs, I want to wish Doris Pelligrini a speedy recoverery on her recent surgery. Doris just underwent surgery to have a pacemaker installed. GOD SPEED and GET WELL soon. Also, GET WELL wishes go out to Bill Farmer. Hope to see both of ya'll back on your feet soon.

As the witches and goblins have disappeared so has the month of October. It was busy as the Road Crew hit the highway and visited Wac-camaw Voiture 1316 on 5 October and Palmetto Voiture 576 on 7 October. We had a wonderful visit with the voyageurs and were fed with some of the best food available. Anyone interested in joining the road crew please let me know. It is always good to see how the other Voitures are doing. For our next road trip I am planning on traveling to Murrell's Inlet Voiture 1354. We will be leaving from the Post around 4:00 pm on the 2nd of November.

Also in November Voiture 974, James Island is having an Oyster Roast on the 6th of Nov. from 1-5 pm. Tickets are $17.00 in advance and $20.00 at the door for all you can eat oysters. Come out and enjoy the fun to be had by all.

ALL ABOARD…… The Train will be departing the Post on 7 November to participate in the VETERANS DAY parade downtown Charleston. We will leave around 1:00 pm to get in line for this event. All interested in riding on the train should let me or train engineer Ralph know as soon as possible.

We are also in the planning stages for our BIG event in April 2011 and that is SOUTHLAND'S DIXIE PROMENADE. Our next committee meeting will be held Nov. 18th at 8:00 pm (following steak night). Chairpersons, mark you calendar to attend.

For the good of the voiture

William “bill” Simpson
Chef De Gare.
